Where to start? This small town at the base of the mountain is home to more than 80 restaurants and bars, so choosing just where to lay your cut-glass tumbler at the end of a long day on the powder is a hard task.

Cloud 9 delivers on its promise: the Swiss-style cabin set atop the mountain right near the Cloud 9 lift. Its music thumping champagne parties are legendary – but be warned, you will have to make your way down the mountain afterwards.

Ajax Tavern is another popular on-mountain destination, combining an incredible location with delicious food and drink . Make a beeline for one of the most famous high-country patios at the end of your run near the Silver Queen Gondola. Choose between truffle fries or double cheeseburger (or both!), and join in on the champagne-sploshing frivolities. Keep an eye out for the Clicquot in the Snow by Veuve Clicquot specials.

CHICA ASPEN – the relatively new hotspot in Gondola Plaza – serves up Latin American cuisine plus an incredible apres-ski scene starting at 2pm every day.

We haven’t forgotten about the kids: The Collective in Snowmass Base Village is a hub for family fun. Cruise around the ice-skating rink, or send the kids inside to the expansive game lounge, complete with table tennis, foosball, an interactive wall mural and much more.

Mammoth Seasons at Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth ski resort is located in Eastern California, along the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In 2005 the resort was bought by Starwood Capital Group and sold in 2017 to a partnership of Aspen Skiing Company and KSL Capital Partners, later named Alterra Mountain Company.

Mammoth Mountain is renowned for having one of the longest seasons in North America. On average this starts from the beginning of November until the end of May. Mammoth is also often a popular California ski resort option due to less reliance on snow making, longer seasons and heavier winter precipitation than its southern neighbours.

Some Mammoth Snowy Season Stats:

2016-2017 season opened on 8th November and did not close until 6th August
1994-95 season was Mammoth Mountain‘s longest ever, over ten months, with the resort operating from 8th October until 13th August
2016-2017 season was the second snowiest on record, with 16 metres of snow and it stayed open until 6th August 2017
2010-2011 was the resort record for snowfall with 17 metres
January 2017 was the snowiest month in Mammoth history, with over 6 metres in one month

Fly Direct to Mammoth

As of January 2020, a direct flight service into Mammoth Mountain is now available. The ski resort is just 10 minutes from the airport (with transfers being free). So that’s less flying and more skiing! The resort is also a 5 hour drive from Los Angeles.

Family Friendly – Where’s Woolly?

If you make it to Mammoth, make sure to look out for the Woolly mascot! He can be found skiing around the mountain, taking pictures with guests and leading events and children’s parades. According to Powder Magazine, Woolly is the 8th-best mascot!

Steamboat Resort Set to Get BIGGER!

Steamboat Resort could become Colorado’s 2nd largest, following recent preliminary approvals for an expansion of the resort in the US. The plans include building what could be the longest 8 person gondola in North America – the Wild Blue Gondola. Also in the development is a 260+ hectare expansion and new restaurants. So if you love Steamboat there’s soon to be much more to love, with this terrain expansion being the first in over 20 years.

Longest Gondola in North America

The Wild Blue Gondola would start from the base area and end at the summit of Sunshine Peak. It would have a mid station making it ideal for a new ski/riding school. The new gondola development for Steamboat Resort is set to be an incredible 5km in length, making it the largest gondola in North America – getting up to 10,000 skiers up the mountain per hour (currently 6,000).

Protecting Wildlife

The US Forest Service and Steamboat Resort are working towards an agreement to protect wildlife throughout the construction. Currently the ‘no-disturbance’ buffer which protects specifically raptors, is incompatible with the construction timing necessary to implement the proposed action. Further environmental analysis with continue over coming months.

Steamboat’s Champagne Powder

The phrase ‘Champagne Powder’ for Steamboat was coined in the early 1950s by local rancher Joe McElroy. Steamboat Resort’s unique snow averages 6 percent water content, compared to 15 percent water content more typical at other locations. The snow is light and fluffy making perfect powder. No other ski resort has its snow trademarked, and there’s no other place you’ll find Champagne Powder® snow than in Steamboat.

What’s New at Steamboat Ski Resort

Steamboat is the stunning ski resort located in the town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. A remarkable 3 hour drive Northwest of Denver, the resort is also accessible from Hayden airport in a 30 minute drive. Take a hike

If you want to have a very stereotypical ‘LA’ experience there are a few thing you need to do. Obviously hike Runyon Canyon in your cutest activewear. You may see a B or C list celebrity and there will be more young girls taking selfies that you have ever seen.

After the hike go and get a green juice from Kreation Juicery. They have locations everywhere but you are most likely to see a celebrity from the one of Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills. Just saying.

Nameste

OMG do a YOGA CLASS. I suggest you do a class at ALO yoga. If you’ve never heard of Alo they make yoga clothes and are more popular than Lulu Lemon in LA. Alo have a few stores with yoga sanctuaries inside and they have classes every day. The instructors are amazing and they look like models. I suggest going to either AlO in Beverly Hills (their flagship store) or Alo in Pacific Palisades. *Look out for Shayna on the schedule, she teaches at Pacific Palisades and is the best

Venice Beach

When you are in Venice don’t just go to the boardwalk, go to Abbot Kinney which has lots of boutique store and the street is lined with palms trees (like so many streets are in LA). There is great coffee, food and ice cream, what else could you possibly need?

Downtown LA

Downtown LA has completely transformed and is the definition of ‘gentrification’, well parts of it anyway. Go to the Arts District. It is so trendy and fun. Downtown LA has become so walkable and is so much safer than it used to be. I don’t even know if ‘skid row’ still exists! Apartments downtown are just as expensive as Beverly Hills! Perch is great for happy hour! Go up City Hall for free for great views of all of LA.

Vegan Food!

Vegan food is so popular in LA. Café Gratitude has to be the ultimate LA experience. All of their dishes have names likes ‘Exquisite or Enchanting or Glorious or Elated or Dedicated’ you get the idea and if you like, you can order by saying I AM and then the name of your dish. It’s totally corny and super LA and fun!

Dining in Malibu

Malibu. If you want to go to the beach in LA go to Zuma Beach in Malibu. The water is so much clearer than Santa Monica. And for lunch, you have 2 options and 2 options only. Either Malibu Farm on the pier, yes a café on a pier which actually has incredible food. It’s just like Boathouse in Palm Beach but in Malibu. The other place to eat is the very fancy Nobu which is also on the beach front. Look out for the Kardashians here!

Day tripping

If you have a spare day or do, hire a car and drive down to Laguna Beach. It is paradise!! Even better, stay at the Montage. Its heavenly. If you only have a day, don’t go to the main beach, go to either Crescent Beach or Shaw’s Cove. If you are doing Laguna in a day watch the traffic because the 405 is a nightmare, better stay overnight.

Century City Mall has been completely redone. It’s a Westfield so has a similar to feel to our shopping malls except that it’s in Los Angeles and has all the US brands we love! It’s fresher and more updated compared to 3^rd Street in Santa Monica, and there is an EATLY which is such a fun Italian dining experience because everyone loves pizza and pasta, right?!
